Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is there a shop to physically visit?

Yes. We are open year round at The Magnet, Main Street, Carrick on Shannon, Co. Leitrim, N41KP21. We have been in business here since 1956.

Our opening hours at the Magnet are the same as our office hours for enquiries from our website:

Tuesday to Saturday 10.00am—17.30pm (open through lunch).
Closed Sunday and Monday (open Mondays in July & August)
Closed Bank Holidays.

If you wish to reserve a personal appointment time please contact us and we will arrange an evening reservation any Thursday or Friday evening between 5.30 and 7.30 pm when your family will have exclusive use of the schoolwear store area in our shop.

What happens if I choose wrong size?

When ordering you choose what you think best and if in doubt please add the details of child height, chest and waist in centimetres in the space provided. We accept returns if size is not correct within 2 weeks of delivery of items.

Please do not remove swing tickets, price tags or sewn on labels from garments as without these the garments will not be exchanged.  Do not write on Name Labels or attach sew on or iron-on labels to garments until you are satisfied with fit. We cannot accept garments back into stock that have any such markings.

Our full returns policy is available at https://schooluniformstore.ie/pages/returns-policy

What happens if there is a flaw in the item?

Items are checked before leaving our shop, however we encourage you to examine all items on receipt and if there is a flaw in the item it should be returned to us immediately. We are happy to exchange immediately.

Again, please do not remove swing tickets, price tags or sewn on labels from garments as without these the garments will not be exchanged.  Do not write on Name Labels or attach sew on or iron-on labels to garments until you are satisfied with fit. We cannot accept garments back into stock that have any such markings.

Our full returns policy is available at https://schooluniformstore.ie/pages/returns-policy

What happens if there is a fault in the garment after it is worn?

If you have begun wearing the garment and there is a fault you are entitled to a repair or replacement within the first 3 months of ownership – provided you did not cause the fault. If you are responsible for the fault repair charges will apply.

Do you accept deposits?

If you order in our physical store or over the phone, we can accept Payment Deposits (50% of final price) when the order is made. This will secure the order until it is dispatched at a date that suits you, the customer.  We advise early bookings— June and July — to ensure delivery in time for the new term.

What care recommendations do you give?

  • School wear is the most frequently worn item in a child or teens wardrobe.
  • Frequent washing should be done at low temperature with small amount of non biological washing agent.
  • Uniforms should be dried on clothes line and use of tumble dryers is not recommended.
  • Never Iron Knitwear.
  • Try to encourage your child to change from schoolwear after school time. By doing this and showing special care for schoolwear from an early age you will extend the life of all of the garments and get further value for your money.
  • Purchase garments in which the student can run freely as they will need to play in yards, climb stairs and feel comfortable for at least 10 months ahead.
